Seeking 60% Time Permanent Staff Music Therapist
Inpatient Mental Health – Adolescents & Adults
The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences Systems is seeking a 60% time permanent staff music therapist to join our behavioral health team. Our new team member will join us primarily working on our inpatient adolescent psychiatric trauma unit, inpatient adult unit, and the outpatient community reintegration program as well, with future potential to collaborate on other medical floors. This position includes rich opportunities for collaboration with the full-time OTR, COTA, peer specialists, the larger multidisciplinary team, as well as the physical disabilities and pediatric OT teams, the UIC academic occupational therapy department, and OT and undergraduate internship students.
Strengths in collaboration, flexibility, patient-centeredness, innovation, desire for professional growth, commitment to evidence-based practice, and positive communication are essential in this position. Some experience in an impatient mental health setting is required. Special skills that are desirable but not required for someone in this position include bilingual/bicultural, experience with trauma care.
In addition to patient care, therapists have the opportunity to teach with clinical interns, and utilize tuition benefit to formally further their own education, and potentially engage in research and program development, depending on clinician skill and interest.
Bachelor’s degree and completion of academic and clinical training requirements from an approved Music Therapy Program as established by the American Music Therapy Association. Board certification in Music Therapy required.
Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is benefits-eligible including paid vacation, continuing education allowance, tuition waiver for courses offered by the University of Illinois at Chicago, and comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage.
Schedule is 24 hours/per week. This position is permanent and benefits eligible.
