Job Description

Overview: Carroll University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor of Music Therapy to oversee and administer the music therapy degree program, teach classes in music therapy and other qualified areas, and serve as advisor and program director. This individual will play an integral role in program development including ongoing curriculum development, program assessment, development of clinical contacts, maintenance of student records, and AMTA reporting requirements.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities of this appointment include teaching classes in the music therapy program and other qualified areas, advising and mentoring students, maintaining a scholarly agenda, recruiting students to the program, developing clinical contacts and supervising clinical experiences, and participating in program, department, and university service. Opportunities exist for continued clinical practice if desired.

The Program: The Carroll University Music Program offers undergraduate degrees in Music Education, Music Therapy, and a BA in Music. There are currently 20 music therapy majors, including students beginning their clinical internship. Carroll is an accredited member of NASM and the Music Therapy degree is fully approved by the AMTA. Carroll University has strong and diversified offerings in Allied Health, including top ranked nursing and physical therapy programs.
The Department: The Department of Visual and Performing Arts in the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences offers majors in art, graphic communication, music education, music liberal arts, music performance, photography, and theater arts, as well as minors in art, graphic design, music, photography, theater arts, and web design.

The University: Founded in 1846, Carroll University is an independent, co-educational comprehensive institution grounded in the liberal arts tradition. The Pioneer Core general education curriculum has a strong emphasis on developing intercultural awareness. Carroll University is located in suburban Waukesha, 16 miles west of Milwaukee and 60 miles east of Madison. The University serves approximately 3000 full-time and 500 part-time students. Qualifications

Qualifications: The candidate must be Board Certified in Music Therapy and a Master’s Degree in Music Therapy is required. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience or its part-time equivalent. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate effectiveness as a classroom teacher and clinical supervisor as well as a knowledge of different approaches to music therapy practice, theory and research and interest in teaching a broad range of topics in the field. The successful candidate should have expertise in a secondary field, such as psychology, biology, or the social sciences.

Track Appointment, Rank and Salary: Clinical faculty. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
