Job Summary:

ProHealth Care Regency Senior Community is seeking a full time Recreation Therapist with an emphasis in music for our growing team. You will work with our residents by encouraging them and/or teaching them to play, listen or move to a variety of music as part of our life enrichment program. We are looking for a creative, inspired Recreation Therapist to make a difference. With three campuses of Independent along with our Assisted/Attended residents, we serve over 1000 residents.

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs music therapy activities as part of a psychosocial and physical programming of residents and their families to influence behavioral and psychological changes, reduce anxiety, improve mental state, improve physical abilities and overall socialization.
  • Implement the music therapy interventions in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care.
  • Help residents either individually or in groups in instrumental or vocal music and music projective techniques such as guided imagery, progressive relaxation, or awareness of conscious feelings.
  • Plan and organize appropriate curriculum for assigned events, holidays, services, spiritual programming and/or any other program deemed appropriate by the Director.
  • Document daily and accurately on resident involvement in music programming.
  • Assist the team in formulating and implementing resident goals for each individual.
  • Assist in the planning and directing of activities for volunteers.
  • Participate and/or facilitate Memorial Services, Thanksgiving Service, Veterans Day.
  • Facilitate grief support groups or other group programming as needed.
  • Participate in the instrumentation of playing various instruments and/or collaborating with other musicians, musical outlets in the local communities.
  • Create the desire for choirs and schedule performances for a variety of audiences.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Prefer candidate to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Music Therapy and pass a certification exam to become a Music Therapist – Board Certified (MT-BC). Recreation/event planning a plus.

· Possess a strong passion for the senior population balanced with professional interpersonal skills and the ability to model nonjudgmental presence.

· Adheres to code of professional ethics.

· Ability to read and understand written or verbal instructions in English.
